Hinduism is a religion that originated on the Indian subcontinent, with its origins in the Vedic civilization and, to a minor degree, in the Indus Valley Civilization. It has no known founder, being itself a conglomerate of diverse beliefs and traditions and is considered by some as the world’s oldest extant religion, and has approximately a billion adherents, of whom about 905 million live in India and Nepal, placing it as the world’s third largest religion after Christianity and Islam. Other countries with large Hindu populations include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji, Suriname, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. Most forms of Hinduism are henotheistic religions which recognize a single deity, and view other Gods and Goddesses as manifestations or aspects of that supreme God. Until recently, a Hindu nationalistic political party controlled the government of India and linkage of religion, the national government, and nationalism led to an escalation of anti-Christian violence. Dalit and other outcast groups have sought escape from the oppressive caste system by wholesale conversions to Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity recently. Pray for God to reveal Himself to every one of the 2,285 least-reached Hindu peoples in South Asia.

Pray for the Captain of Hosts to thrust forth more than enough effective laborers into the ripe harvest among every caste among all Hindu peoples of South Asia.

HIGHWAYS:

Pray for God to prepare the hearts of people in every Hindu group to receive the message of His love and forgiveness; pray He confirms the Word with signs and wonders following.

HOMES:

Pray for open homes for the gospel that become houses of worship, healing houses, houses of prayer and home Bible colleges among their own people.

HANDS & FEET:

Pray for every believer to live as the hands and feet of Jesus as they live and work among the Hindus of South Asia day by day; pray for consistent godly witness in their lives.

HARMONY:

Pray for true biblical unity among brothers and sisters laboring alongside one another in the complex Hindu societies. Pray for restoration of love and reconciliation where there have been offenses that have brought division.
