TRAIL OF THE NATIONS
LEAST REACHED PEOPLES OF AMERICAS & CARIBBEAN
STOP #12
“God, gold and glory” was the rallying cry of the Spaniards who went to the New World but God was the motivator for many Jesuit missionaries, and that put them in conflict with those who came to take the gold and enslave those who needed God. The divinely-ordered convergence in Latin America of greater freedom of religion, more open and accountable democracy, a series of military, natural and economic disasters which loosened the hold of traditional structures enabled many to come to Christ. Today there has been a rapid growth and maturation of missions vision which has sparked numerous initiatives to the unreached in this region and beyond. Communities from every ethnic group in Europe have settled in the Americas. It is possibly the area with the least religious discrimination and has been the world’s largest sending base for missionaries though that is now rapidly changing. Students, immigrant communities, and indigenous peoples remain a challenge for the gospel in this world’s wealthiest continent and the economic engine on which the world’s economy depends for growth. Yet the Body of Christ in the Americas and the Caribbean needs re-energizing to come alongside the rapidly emerging harvest forces from China, Russia, Latin America, India, Africa and other parts of the world. Pray for God to move among believers here and impart fresh vision for peoples joining together to glorify God among all peoples.
Prayer Points:
KINGS, LEADERS, & ALL THOSE IN AUTHORITY:
Pray for God to place righteous leaders in power that rule justly and that God gives favor to believers trying to minister, that they may live quiet lives in all godliness and see His kingdom coming on earth. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
COOPERATION NOT COMPETITION:
Request that God removes competition and imparts a sense of cooperation to every believer, that we join hands with Him and one another to complete the task of reaching every “no-choice people”. “The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:8-9
TURNING OBSTACLES TO OPPORTUNITIES:
Pray that God causes believers to value all the redemptive gifts in every culture and that He gives them the ability to respond to challenges with His grace and love so as to share the least-reached people groups in this region.
SEEKERS TO FIND:
Pray for those who have migrated to North America and the Caribbean as students, overseas workers, immigrants and refugees seeking education, opportunity or fleeing war, famine, or economic deprivation to find Jesus as their Resource, Refuge, Teacher, and Friend.
TURNING THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS TO THE CHILDREN:
Pray for God to supernaturally cause the hearts of the older generation to understand and appreciate the gifts in the younger generation and for this emerging generation to value and esteem their elders, that families would be God-honoring examples of the Kingdom of God on earth.
