ObeyGC2: Ordinary radicals working together
Ironically, ObeyGC2 will probably be most effective when obviously unremarkable people practice it. It will then be obvious that it is God who is responsible for anything of value which is accomplished. The other obvious testimony to this fact will be if we work together in unity as Jesus prayed we would. I love the illustration of a turtle on a fencepost. If you are ever walking along and see a turtle on a fencepost, you don’t say, “Wow! What an amazing turtle!” Instead you start looking around to see who put the turtle on the fencepost.
1 Cor 1:26-31
26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”
John 17:20-23
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
